B&B Porta Bagni, Sciacca, Sicily

On a trip around Sicily, the charming town of Sciacca was an overnight stop on our travels – it is well placed between Selinunte and Agrigento. Arriving in Sciacca around 6.30pm on a Saturday night, there was a lot of traffic in Piazza Saverio Friscia and we could not access the street where B&B Porta Bagni was located as it was closed to vehicle traffic at that time.

We phoned our host, Guiseppe, who kindly came to meet us.

La Nicchia, San Vito lo Capo, Sicily

La Nicchia is a small bed and breakfast located on Via Mondello, a short walk to Via Savoia, the main street of San Vito lo Capo, and about 5 minutes walk from the beach.

On arrival we phoned the number given on the door and a charming lady called Paolo was there to greet us in moments. Paolo did not speak English however we used Google translate to communicate! Paolo gave us a map and recommended a few restaurants nearby.

B&B Il Cappero, Lipari, Sicily

B&B Il Cappero is a charming guesthouse on the island of Lipari – the largest of the Aeolian Islands in Sicily.

We caught a ferry from Mizzaro, on Sicily’s mainland, to Lipari. It is a very pleasant trip of just under one hour. Arriving at Lipari’s Marina Lunga at around 1.47pm we phoned Il Cappero and were advised that the driver who was to pick us up to take us to our accommodation, did not work between 1pm and 3pm! It was a good opportunity for us to enjoy lunch and we found a waterfront bar called Fratelli Laise with outdoor seating overlooking the water at Marina Lunga, and had a Panini and salad.

The View Hotel, Monument Valley

View Hotel Monument ValleyThe View Hotel is the only hotel located within Monument Valley Tribal Park and is designed to have minimal visual impact on the surrounding beauty of the Valley. Although three levels, the building fits well into the landscape.

The hotel sits right beside the Visitor Information Centre and is very close to the beginning of Valley Road – the scenic road of 17 miles (about 27kms) through the main sites of Monument Valley.

The reception foyer is impressive with high ceilings. The hotel features beautiful hanging rugs and artwork of the local people.

At one end of the hotel is the restaurant, large gift shop and terraces overlooking the valley.

Room 347
We are in Room 347 and on entering wonder where the bed is! We quickly realise it is in the wall – it is a pull down bed.

On entering our room, it seems we are walking into a living room – there is a sofa plus single armchair and the TV is on the wall. The large timber panel we see on the wall as we enter is the pull down bed.

Antler Inn, Jackson, Wyoming

Antler Inn, JacksonAfter a long day on the road we were glad to reach the Antler Inn located in the pretty downtown historic centre of Jackson.

We received a warm welcome and were kindly upgraded to a King Room – Room 156 – upstairs on the top level of a 2-storey building, one of three buildings that make up the motel. The property is well cared for and the flowering hanging baskets were a pretty touch.

We were able to park our car in front of the steps to our room.
