Spruce Moose Lodge, North Conway, New Hampshire, USA

The Spruce Moose Lodge consists of a B&B in the main house, several cottages and a couple of holiday homes. It is located about 3 blocks from the main street of North Conway, in a pretty setting amongst the trees – and in Autumn it is particularly beautiful.

We have Cottage 3 – a green timber cottage with open plan living/kitchen/dining and lounge plus 2 bedrooms. It is an old fashioned place but it’s comfortable.

LikeAHotel Apartment – 270 Queen Street, Montreal, QC, Canada

Apartment Vintage, MontrealWe had just one night in Montreal and booked this apartment based on location and value for money.

LikeAHotel offers apartments and holiday rentals in Montreal – all bookable via booking.com.

We chose to stay in an apartment on Queen Street, Montreal, a short walk to Old Montreal.

To check in we had to phone LikeAHotel 45 minutes before arriving to get the code to enter the building. Once in the building we used a computer screen on the wall in the landing to contact LikeAHotel staff to talk us through getting into our apartment (another code for the key holder), show our ID, etc.

Burlington Air BnB (Vermont, USA) – Blue Building with Neighborhood Character

We found our accommodation in Burlington on Air BnB – it is described as Blue Building with Neighborhood Character.

During a trip to see the Fall colours of Vermont in the USA, we decided to visit Burlington and made this booking the day before our visit – we were the first guests to stay in this accommodation.

We chose the property because of its location and value for money.

On arrival we collected our key by entering a code into a key box at the property. The apartment was on the first floor of a quaint timber building (painted blue) – there are steep stairs to climb to reach the apartment.

Stowe Motel & Snowdrift, Vermont, USA

It was very difficult to find reasonably priced accommodation in Stowe on the Columbus Day holiday (Monday, 10 October 2016) however we came across Stowe Motel & Snowdrift – very good value for money.

We booked a 2-Bedroom Fireplace Suite – Room 302. The suite was self contained and very comfortable. We were able to park right outside our suite, so very easy to carry luggage in.

Vacation Village in the Berkshires, Hancock, MA, USA

Reception Lounge, Vacation Village in the BerkshiresVacation Village in the Berkshires is resort-style accommodation – made up of about 20 attractive New England-style timber buildings. Each building has a number of apartments available for guests.

We are visiting in the Fall and the location is very beautiful – we feel miles from the nearest town, there are views of the surrounding countryside and the air smells pure and fresh.

Reception is housed in the main building, which is reached via a large circular driveway. We arrive quite late however there are number of staff on reception to check us in, and they are helpful with information on what to see and do in the area, where to eat, etc.

Holiday Inn Express New York JFK Airport Area

Note: This hotel is now known as Best Western JFK Airport Hotel.

There are many hotels in the immediate vicinity of JFK Airport. We chose Holiday Inn Express based on ratings and value for money.

We had a one-night stay – on the evening of our arrival after a flight from Sydney to New York (via Los Angeles). On arrival at JFK Airport we took the free Air Train to Federation Circle Station where we took a shuttle bus to the hotel.

After a friendly and easy check in at Reception, we proceeded to Room #315 on the third floor, just opposite the elevator. The room was very clean with very comfortable king size bed (we found the pillows to be quite luxurious).

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, Broome

We treated ourselves, after nearly four weeks of camping, to three nights at Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa – and loved it!

At Reception we were offered a glass of sparkling wine and booked into Room 367 on the first floor (there is just ground floor and first floor) of the Dragon Flower Wing.

The room was lovely – spacious, nicely furnished with a luxurious feel.

Whalesong Cafe & Campground, Dampier Peninsula, Western Australia

We arrive early evening at Whalesong Cafe and receive a warm welcome from Jacinta, who with her partner, own the Whalesong Cafe and campground.

There are just five camping spots here and we share the very large #5 campsite with our friends who arrived half an hour before us.

We light a campfire, enjoy a delicious dinner and go to bed to the sound of the waves. It isn’t until next morning we realise what a beautiful spot we have ended up in – our campsite is right above the beach with lovely views of Pender Bay and the sunrise is gorgeous.

Silent Grove Campground, Kimberley, Western Australia

Silent Grove Campground is in the King Leopold Range Conservation Park. It is the closest campground to Bell Gorge – a popular place to visit along the Gibb River Road.

This is a self-registration campsite and after completing our details and placing the correct money in the envelope, we choose a shady site. There are not too many campers here at the moment but it is quite a small campground so we ‘save’ our spot before driving 10kms down the road to do the Bell Gorge walk.

The campsite has two bathroom blocks (one for men and one for women) with solar hot water showers. There are three showers in each block, a long bench but no hand basins or mirrors, just a tap at the entrance. Flushing toilet cubicles are scattered throughout the campsite.

There are round fire-pits and taps throughout the campsite.

There are no facilities for rubbish here and we must take it out of the park with us.

Silent Grove Campground is a very pleasant spot and very convenient to beautiful Bell Gorge.

Kimberley Entrance Caravan Park, Derby, Western Australia

This holiday park is very impressive. It is immaculately kept and very clean. The ‘streets’ of the park are lined with trees as are most of the campsites.

We have site #169 towards the back of the park – plenty of space.

There are two amenity blocks – the one closest to us is very modern inside, clean and spacious. There is a long mirror above the basins and soap dispensers.

The men are on one side of the block and the women on the other, with a laundry area in between the two. The other amenities block has the same set up.

The camp kitchen is located in the same building as Reception at the front of the Park. There are tables and chairs, BBQ, cooktop, toasters, microwave and washing up basin.

During our visit, Outback Paddy (songwriter, guitarist, singer) performs.

This is an excellent caravan park and highly recommended.
