We arrive in Polonnaruwa after dark and My Home Guesthouse is a little hard to find. To make matters worse, there is a power outage in the whole town – so all in darkness!
The guesthouse is accessed by a gravel road (a torch is handy) and first impressions are that it is a building site as the top floor is unfinished. However, on the ground floor there are four modern, spacious rooms available, each with private bathroom.
We are welcomed by the owner who assures us that the power is due to come back on soon. Without electricity, the host’s mother prepares a delicious selection of Sri Lankan dishes for our dinner and just as the first dish is served the power comes back on!
Each of the four rooms has a name and we are in Andriya. It is a spacious room with two queen size beds, one bedside table with a lamp, a luggage rack, and a hat stand.
The air conditioning in the room worked well plus there was a ceiling fan.
The breakfast next day was very good – fresh fruit, toast, eggs, tea and coffee.
This is a newly built property, the host is friendly and the meals are delicious.
